Vegetation Management: Referrals, Exemptions, Self Assessable Codes, and Legislative Amendments

Vegetation management is a prominent issue that attracts widespread interest across the State.  It is highly political, and highly publicised. 

This seminar includes a Vegetation Management 101 component for both new and established practitioners, a discussion of the new Self Assessable Codes and Accepted Development Vegetation Clearing Codes, and a review of Fairmont Group Pty Ltd v Moreton Bay Regional Council [2018] QPEC 20 and recent legislative amendments arising from the commencement of the Vegetation Management and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2018 (Qld).

TOPICS

Sarah Macoun will discuss the Planning and Environment Court’s recent decision of Fairmont Group Pty Ltd v Moreton Bay Regional Council [2018] QPEC 20 and the legal implications of the recent commencement of the highly publicised Vegetation Management and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2018 (Qld).

Stephen Whitaker  will provide an overview of the key concepts of vegetation clearing, applications under Section 22A, and referrals and exemptions under the Planning Regulation.

David Francis will discuss the Self Assessable Codes and Accepted Development Vegetation Clearing Codes, which Cardno was involved in the review of.
